Attention Paint Manufacturers!

Just a simple question. As contractors we saw our paint prices go up because:

* It cost more to ship
* Your raw materials made with petroleum products went up.
* Your profit margins were smaller due to the increased costs

Oil prices are lower than they had been in several years. Are you going to lower our prices back to pre-2007 prices? Lower them at all? If not why not?

I really wouldnt know how it can cost more to ship but from what I know is that the raw materials for paints like titanium dioxide and resins (which are the main component of paints like latex) is derived from crude oil. And since the suppliers like BASF for resins and Dupont for titanium have hedge their price on crude oil when it was going up - then the price of this materials are still on the hedged price and will be adjusted by the time they consumed it all up.

I also want to hear from paint manufacturers why their prices is still that high but judging from my experience, they will never lower the price of paint - increasing yes but lowering - doubt it.
